"This class filled me with energy and created a new outlook for me on improv and performance. Galinsky took all my fears of improvisation and not having a script away, giving me greater confidence all around!” Stephen Campbell actor and current student

The Fall Improvisational Theatre Workshop is a fun powerful experience that fuses improvisation and audition work, to provide actors with all the skills and techniques needed to excel and succeed on stage, on camera, and at auditions. The course is taught by Robert Galinsky, and each two hour session consists of two sections: 55 minutes of improv technique, scene work, character work and cold copy improv monologue work and 55 minutes of self awareness exercises, body work, group games, abstract game playing, and idea transformation. With a break between. These 6 two hour sessions are a unique experience that will add confidence and imagination to every actor. Throughout the course students will receive free admission to the Manhattan Monologue Slam (http://www.manhattanmonologueslam.com) and the course culminates in a class performance (optional).

"This workshop made me far more confident and willing to step outside of my self-inflicted limitations especially with improv.  At the end of 5 weeks I am able to take what would have been a threatening situation and make it work to best showcase my talent." Rachel Phillips actor and current student

The goal of this 6 week course is to get students comfortable, prepared and confident on stage and in the audition. I want you to continue to work imaginatively, professionally and with power. Students will become better actors by trusting their own style and instincts, through intensive exercises that further explore:

  • developing a trust of your originality
  • creating characters that you can apply to other theatrical and film situations
  • hard and fast techniques to improve cold copy auditions and readings
  • hard & fast techniques for understanding & getting the most out of text
  • improvisation with and without script
  • how to further the action without a script using traditional improv games in the style of “Whose Line Is It?" and through the use of new theatre exercises developed in class
  • Contact 212.332.0878 or info@galinskyplace.com for information
  • COST: $275.00 (ask about NYCastings.com and MMSlam discounts)
  •    SCHEDULE: Saturday 5pm-7pm at the Richmond Shepard Theatre in NYC, 309 E. 26th St. NYC 10010, (@ 2nd Ave, see a big red sign at the base of the apartment building on 26th Street)

"Robert Galinsky has an amazing style!  He's organized, supportive and inspiring.  Before I met him, my monologues lacked confidence and direction, but now I can't wait to perform them.  Robert's a natural director, acting instructor and (dare I say) cheerleader with strong and unique insights into character choices...giving me just what I need to have great auditions." Jess Sabine Stasulis Current Student and NYCastings Member
